Tiakina o Tātou Mōana - Care for our Seas
I don't know about you, but we spend a whole lot of time in, on and around the sea as a family. It really breaks my heart to see what we are doing to our oceans, the amount of rubbish, mainly single use plastics that end up in the sea is horrifying. An estimated 8 million metric tons of plastic ends up in the oceans every year and the prediction that by mid-century, the oceans will contain more plastic waste than fish, ton for ton, which is a hugely sobering thought. Ultimately this is why we do what we do. So keep on making all those small changes to reusable products, it DOES make a difference. We don't need a few people doing zero waste perfectly, we actually need millions doing it imperfectly.
