Homemade Natural, Antibacterial Mouthwash

Posted by Lisa Madarasz on

For a big dose of oral hygiene without the dodgy ingredients nothing beats the odour neutralising qualities of baking soda and the antibacterial and antifungal powers of tea tree and peppermint oils.

  • A container - A small jar works perfectly.
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup filtered or distilled water
  • 2 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 2 drops peppermint essential oil
  • Pinch of stevia - optional

Just mix all the ingredients together in your jar and hey presto you are done - nice and easy!

If you would like a sweeter taste then add a touch of stevia.

The baking soda will settle on the bottom so make sure you shake before use.

to use just swish 2-3 teaspoons in your mouth for a minute or two.

As with any mouthwash this is not designed to be swallowed.

Baking soda will settle to the bottom of the jar when not in use, so be sure to shake your homemade mouthwash before each use. Swish about 2-3 teaspoons of this homemade formula in your mouth for a minute or two.

As with any mouthwash, try to avoid swallowing this while gargling.
